EL Services

ELL

The Monroe County Board of Education is committed to providing English Learner (EL) students with equitable access to high-quality instruction and academic opportunities.

Our EL program supports students in:

  • Developing English language proficiency
  • Accessing grade-level academic content
  • Receiving appropriate instructional supports
  • Monitoring academic and language progress
  • Participating in the annual WIDA ACCESS assessment

Students are identified through the Home Language Survey and, when appropriate, the WIDA Screener. EL students receive language-development support aligned with WIDA English Language Development Standards.

Family Support

Parents and families are important partners in their child's education. Monroe County Schools provides EL information, parent notifications, and resources in a language families can understand.

For questions about EL services, identification, assessment, or parent resources, please get in touch with your child's school or the Monroe County Board of Education Federal Programs Office.
