🔹 Title IV, Part A – Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE)
Purpose: Title IV, Part A provides federal funding to help schools improve student academic achievement by supporting a well-rounded education, safe and healthy students, and effective use of technology.
The goal is to give students access to a broad range of educational opportunities and to enhance learning environments.
🔹 Key Objectives
Title IV, Part A is designed to:
- Support a well-rounded education, including subjects like:
- Arts, music, and STEM
- College and career readiness programs
- Civics, history, and foreign languages
- Promote safe and healthy students, including:
- Drug and violence prevention programs
- Social-emotional learning (SEL)
- School mental health programs
- Improve the effective use of technology to:
- Enhance digital literacy
- Support blended learning and access to high-quality digital resources
🔹 Allowable Uses of Title IV, Part A Funds
Districts and schools may use funds for:
- Professional development for teachers and staff in well-rounded subjects, safety, or technology integration
- STEM programs, arts, and enrichment activities
- Mental health services, counseling, and violence prevention programs
- Digital tools, devices, and infrastructure for learning
- Programs supporting college and career readiness
⚠️ Funds must supplement, not supplant state and local funds.
🔹 Accountability & Reporting
- Schools and districts must assess the effectiveness of funded programs in improving student outcomes.
- Funds should be spent strategically and efficiently, aligned with district and school improvement plans.
- Schools may set priorities based on local student needs assessments.
