Vocational Rehabilitation Services (VRS)

VRS provides transition services in collaboration with local high schools, technical colleges, junior colleges and universities statewide to assist students with disabilities in receiving appropriate educational opportunities. The goal for VRS is to enable individuals with disabilities to increase self-sufficiency through employment. For Alabamians with disabilities, VRS strives to enhance employment opportunities and empowers individuals with disabilities to achieve their maximum potential.
Transition services are a coordinated set of activities that assist youth with disabilities to successfully transition from high school to employment or post-secondary training opportunities. Every public high school in Alabama has a vocational rehabilitation counselor assigned to provide pre-employment and transition services.
